Robinhood Co-Founder’s Cowboy Space Raises $275M to Challenge SpaceX

The race for "AI in orbit" has a heavily funded new competitor. Cowboy Space, a stealthy spacetech venture founded by Robinhood co-founder Baiju Bhatt, has broken cover to announce a highly lucrative $275 million Series B funding round. The round, which was led by Index Ventures, vaults the San Carlos, California-based startup to a commanding $2 billion valuation.

Cowboy Space is building advanced rocket components and orbital satellite infrastructure tailored explicitly for space-based AI computing. Rather than beaming massive, raw data sets back down to Earth for processing, the company's platform aims to allow defense networks, commercial satellites, and research arrays to execute heavy AI computing tasks directly in space.

This $275 million war chest will be used to expedite the company's proprietary orbital test launches and aggressively scale its technical engineering teams. Industry analysts suggest Cowboy Space is uniquely positioned to challenge standard commercial space paradigms by treating space not just as a communications layer, but as the ultimate frontier for decentralized data centers.
